Delta Community Credit Union (DCCU) is Georgia’s biggest credit union. It has the largest number of members and highest value of assets among the credit union in the area; 350,000 and $5 billion respectively.

In the United States, DCCU is listed as one of the top 25 credit unions in terms of size. The credit unions members are comprised of people who work or live in 11 metro area countries in Atlanta.

The company serves several companies including:

  • Delta Air Lines
  • RaceTrac
  • UPS
  • Chick-fil-A

Because DCCU is a not-for-profit credit union, any profits it makes go back to the customers and local communities. The credit union is state-chartered and federally insured.

Presently, DCCU has 27 branches but is also a member of CO-OP which means its members can make use of more than 5000 branches that are owned and operated by more than 3,500 credit unions.

History of the Credit Union

The DCCU was launched in February 1940 by eight employees of Delta Air Lines. Each of the 8 members only contributed $45 in share capital. In March of the same year, the credit union was awarded a charter that would allow it to operate for 20 years.

A board of directors was formed one month after the charter was awarded and membership was opened to anyone who was an employee of Delta Airlines. The value of the assets had grown to $2000 by the end of the same year.

The credit union’s charter was renewed in 1960 and by 1983, its assets were valued in excess of $200 million. This was the first time a credit union had reached this milestone in the state. The credit union has retained the number one spot in the state since then.

When celebrating its 50th anniversary in 1990, members in good standing received a savings bond worth $50.

In 1994, various measures were taken to increase the credit union’s membership. One year later, the credit union’s membership exceeded 100,000.

In the years to come, the credit union moved its focus to be able to serve the community while still maintaining the Delta connection. By 2010, the membership numbers had exceeded 200,000 and the credit unions assets were valued at $3 billion.

From 2015 to 2017, the Atlanta Business Chronicle recognized the credit union as one of the Best Places to Work in the city.

The Headquarters

DCCU’s headquarters are located in the River 200 building in the Cumberland Galleria. The building is still quite new and was only opened in 2017.

It’s estimated that the Highwoods Properties Inc., the building owners, invested around $105 million in the building. The building is adjacent to the credit union’s offices in 3250 Riverwood Parkway and the two buildings are connected by the parking facility.

The DCCU has leased 79,000 square feet of space in the new building which will be a significant increase to its existing presence within the campus. The building has various ultramodern amenities such as an arrival auto plaza among others.

  1. To Tell the Truth@22

    Unfair, discriminative dispute process

Delta Community Credit Union , practices in UNFAIR BUSINESS PRACTICES, by hiring and failing to professionally trained it’s service member agents in all areas of financial needs. Delta, also deceived non white account holders with the incorrect dispute process information, causing non white account holders to lose money they are legally entitled to. Delta, customer service reps, are ALL delivering false information to customers requesting certain financial information. You can never get the same answer twice. The managers and area managers fail to follow up with customers concerns and complaints to offer any resolution. I do not recommend Delta Community Credit Union.
