Johnson Bank is a bank based in Racine in the state of Wisconsin. It’s a subsidiary of the Johnson Financial Group, Inc. which is also the holding company for:

History of Johnson Financial Group

Johnson Bank was established in 1970 by Sam Johnson. In the beginning the bank is known as Heritage Bank. Sam Johnson was disappointed with the quality of service that traditional financial services companies were offering.

When opening the bank, he pledged to treat customers like family. Since then, some of the notable events to pass include:

  • 1985 – Johnson Insurance Services were established. This agency would grow to become one of the top independent insurance agencies in the country, working with some of the top specialists.
  • 1987 – Helen Johnson-Leipold, the daughter of Sam Johnson, started working in the bank
  • 1989 – The bank is finally incorporated after almost 2 decades. Johnson Trust Company is also established as the bank solidifies its place in the wealth management niche.
  • 1998 – Heritage Bank & Trust is renamed Johnson Bank
  • 2002 – The new headquarters for the Johnson Financial Group in downtown Racine is completed. The project helps to revitalize the downtown area of the city.
  • 2004 – The bank’s founder, Sam Johnson passes away and his daughter, Helen, is named the chairman of the financial group. This marks the 5th generation of the family’s leadership.

The Headquarters Johnson Bank

The corporate offices of Johnson Financial Group, Inc. and Johnson Bank are located at 555 Main Street in Racine, Wisconsin.

The building is known as the Johnson Building and it’s in the downtown Racine neighborhood. Construction of the building started in 2000 and was completed in 2002. The bank’s headquarters were moved into the building in the same year.

There is 180,831 square feet of space that is available in the building which also uses a multi-level parking facility.

The Johnson Building is 6 stories high and the first floor is occupied by retail stores. The exterior of the building is a mix of glass and masonry.

In 2017, the bank celebrated 15 years since the construction of the building was completed. It’s estimated that $22 million was used in the construction of the building. Some of the establishments found in the building include:

  • Red Onion Café
