In 1893, the ‘Panic of 1893’ made things difficult for the bank but despite the challenges during this time, the bank managed to remain solvent and also continued to grow.

Two other major challenges that Zions Bancorp has survived through include the 1907 depression and the 1929 stock market crash. Both of these incidents had a heavy impact on the banking industry in the industrialized world.
During the 1929 stock market crash, depositors withdrew $1.5 million in just 2.5 days. However, a defiant intervention by the bank’s president to demonstrate that the bank was strong changed this.
Zions Bancorporation first IPO was in January 1966. In the 60s and 70s, Zions would grow to become a major bank in the state after acquiring small banks.
The head offices of Zions Bancorporation are located in Zions Bank Tower in Salt Lake City, UT. The building was constructed between 1962 and 1963 and reaches a height of approximately 300 feet.
